Ms. Bedwell et R. Goulder, INCREASE IN SPECIFIC GROWTH-RATE OF SUSPENDED BACTERIA THROUGH PONDS AND TANKS USED IN INTENSIVE FISH FARMING, Letters in applied microbiology, 25(3), 1997, pp. 212-214
Specific growth rate of suspended bacteria increased through fish pond
s and tanks. Enrichment experiments suggested that increases in phosph
ate and organic carbon and nitrogen mere responsible. The increased sp
ecific growth rate is likely to enhance the environmental impact of fi
sh farm effluents on recipient rivers.
