Abstract
We report on a case of methotrexate (MTX) intoxication occurring in a 19-year-old man treated for a leukemia. Exchange-transfusion (ET) was performed in attempt to remove the MTX from the body. This exchange-tr ansfusion was unable to decrease the MTX plasma concentration. This in efficacy of ET in MTX intoxication is in contradiction with previously reported recommendations. However, this result is easily explained by MTX pharmacokinetics parameters.
