Abstract
Synthesis of 3-oxo-14,15-dihydroandranginine (3) is detailed based on Diels-Alder reaction of ldimethylsilyl)oxy]ethyl]-3,4-dihyropyri-din-2 -one (11b) and methyl N-(p-methoxybenzensulfonyl)indole-2-(2-propenoat e (9). This represents the first synthesis of the skeleton of(+/-)-and ranginine 1.
