Radiation-induced conductivity (RIG) for alternating current (AC) flow
ing due both to free-charge transfer and geminate-pair polarization is
analyzed theoretically. The results indicate that at values of the go
verning parameters characteristic of the polymers studied AC RIC excee
ds DC RIC only by a few percent. Whereas, according to the experimenta
l data, the former value exceeds the latter several-fold. A plausible
outcome from this contradiction is to take into account in more detail
the fact that charge carriers are transferred via the tunnelling mech
anism.
