Abstract
The polarization reversal current of a ferroelectric liquid crystal ce ll with horizontal chevron smectic layer structure may exhibit a doubl e peak response under certain conditions, similar to an antiferroelect ric liquid crystal. The current response was investigated as a functio n of temperature, electric field amplitude and frequency. An explanati on of the resulting behaviour, based on the director and smectic layer configuration of the horizontal chevron smectic layer structure is gi ven.
