Abstract
The total photoabsorption cross section for carbon and lead has been m easured in the energy range 0.5 divided by 2.6 GeV at Bonn using the S APHIR tagged photon beam. Nuclear data show a significant reduction of the absorption strength with respect to the free nucleon case suggest ing a shadowing effect at low energies. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
