Ba(2)LaMbO(6), a new perovskite substrate material for YBa2Cu3O7-delta
, has been grown epitaxially on (100) MgO by pulsed-laser ablation met
hod. A superconducting YBa2Cu3O7-delta film in situ grown on an epitax
ial Ba2LaNbO6 film gave a T-C(0) = 90 K with a transition width Delta
T = 0.5 K. The YBa2Cu3O7-delta films exhibited (00l) orientation of an
orthorhombic YBa2Cu3O7-delta phase and showed almost perfect metallic
behaviour in the normal state with resistance ratio (R-300K/R-100K) =
2.98. critical current density of 5 x 10(6) A/cm(2) at 77 K was obtai
ned consistently for the YBa2Cu3O7-delta films in situ grown on epitax
ial Ba2LaNbO6 films.
