X. Yang et Dj. Fray, SIMULATION OF CELLS WITH ANODES OF LARGE SURFACE-AREA FOR ELECTROLYSIS OF ALUMINA DISSOLVED IN A CHLORIDE MELT, Transactions - Institution of Mining and Metallurgy. Section C. Mineral processing & extractive metallurgy, 106, 1997, pp. 27-33
Cells with different carbon anodes of large surface area were studied
by two-dimensional computer simulation to evaluate their suitability f
or the electrolysis of alumina in chloride-based electrolytes at high
superficial current densities. The most efficient anode arrangement wa
s determined, which would overcome the electrochemical disadvantages o
f the low solubility of alumina in a chloride melt.
