Bm. Park et Sj. Chung, THE EFFECTS OF POLISHING ON THE FORMATION OF 90-DEGREES DOMAIN-WALLS IN A BARIUM-TITANATE SINGLE-CRYSTAL, Ferroelectrics, 197(1-4), 1997, pp. 717
In an {100} BaTiO3 single crystal plate of 0.2 mm thickness, it was ob
served that the surface of thin plate was deformed during the polishin
g process and, as a result, the 90 degrees a-a boundaries were partial
ly stabilized. These stabilized 90 degrees a-a walls were reappeared a
t the exact their positions after repeated paraelectric-to-ferroelectr
ic phase transition, i.e., they show a memory effect. These effects ca
n be explained by the deformed surface layers and the characteristic a
nisotropy of 90 degrees walls.
