A 56-year-old man, working in a food processing factory, developed con
tact dermatitis of his hands, forearms, and face after the introductio
n of a new herb extract (Rosmanox(R)) made from the leaves of rosemary
(Rosmarinus officinalis). He reacted to carnosol, the main constituen
t of Rosmanox(R). 226 controls were negative. To our knowledge, this i
s the Ist reported case of contact dermatitis from carnosol.
