Abstract
This Paper reviews the design of the Phase I conveyance system which t ransfers water from wellheads at Sarir and Tazerbo to the north coast of Libya and the end reservoirs at Sirt and Benghazi. All aspects of t he design of the conveyance system are discussed. These include the ov erall layout and pipeline design as well as structures for flow contro l, anchorage, access, drainage, air venting, turnouts to end-users, va lving, metering, chlorination and provision for future extension. Cons ideration is given to conveyance durability and to protection of the p ipe against corrosion both internally and externally. The design was c arried out by Sir Alexander Gibb & Partners Ltd for Dong Ah Consortium as part of their turnkey contract.
