The effect of treatment at temperature of liquid nitrogen (-196 degree
s C) for 10, 60, and 120 min on chemical composition of the surface la
vers and properties of the soft magnetic amorphous Co57Ni10Fe5Si11B17
alloy was studied. The low-temperature treatment causes the enrichment
of surface with nonmetal atoms, The most abrupt change was observed a
fter treatment for 30 min. Supposedly, these processes are caused by t
he temperature wave initiating a compression wave leading to the struc
tural transformations. The latter are similar to the structural relaxa
tion occurring in the range below the crystallization temperature, Thi
s treatment increases the corrosion resistance and strength of the all
oy with the retention of coercive force.
