Abstract
A generalized expression for the Gruneisen coefficient in the form of a function of two thermodynamic variables - volume and temperature - i s suggested. By way of example of a few simple substances it has been shown that the suggested function tits experimental data up to a twofo ld change in the volume and to temperatures of about 10(4) K.
