Photoacoustic techniques including photoacoustic comprehensive measure
ment meter, photoacoustic spectroscope and electron acoustic microscop
e were used to study the photoacoustic effect of piezoelectric ZnO thi
n films and the piezoelectric coefficients (e(33), e(31)), the phase t
ransition in ferroelectric ceramics, PSZT and semiconductor BaTO3 cera
mics, spatial distributions of polarization in PSZT ceramics, direct o
bservation of domain structures of BaTiO3 ceramics, surface and subsur
face texture of diamond film, residual stress distribution of sodium g
lass and polycrystalline aluminum. The results show that the photoacou
stic techniques have their own advantages over the existed methods. Th
e experimental set-up and the generation mechanism of the acoustic sig
nal were also described in the paper.
