Ws. Han et al., ANALYSIS OF SPALLATION BASED UPON STATISTICAL MICRODAMAGE MECHANICS, International journal of impact engineering, 19(5-6), 1997, pp. 381-394
A relationship between the cumulative length of microcracks and the am
plitude and duration of tensile impulse in spallation was established
based on the application of statistical microdamage mechanics, which i
ncluded a statistical formulation and dynamic laws of microdamage unde
r loading. Since the degrees of spallation, called incipient, intermed
iate and complete spallation, can be characterized by the cumulative l
ength of microcracks, a physical interpretation of an empirical criter
ion to spallation was presented. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
