Calculations are presented showing the temperatures to be expected fro
m auxiliary heating in spheromaks, based on a model that appears to ag
ree with earlier experiments with ohmic heating. The model incorporate
s heat loss due to the magnetic fluctuations generated during self-org
anization into a Taylor state. The model shows that keV temperatures c
ould be achieved in a small device with a flux conserver radius of onl
y 0.3 m.
