Abstract
A magnetic field configuration for a tandem mirror is proposed in whic h weak multipole fields are applied to all minor cells of a tandem min or. The MHD stability criterion of the magnetic field is studied. An M HD stable configuration is not yet obtained but hopefully will be obta ined by further study.
