Bm. Tadjikov et al., STUDY OF RADICAL CATIONS OF CIS- AND TRANS-DECALIN IN NONPOLAR SOLUTIONS BY THE MARY AND OPTICALLY DETECTED ESR SPECTROSCOPY, Russian chemical bulletin, 46(5), 1997, pp. 928-933
Radical cations of cis- and frons-decalin in nonpolar solvents were st
udied by optically detected ESR and magnetically affected reaction yie
ld (MARY) spectroscopy. The observed differences in the spectra of cir
-and trans-decalin are in agreement with the assumption of the existen
ce of temperature-activated intramolecular dynamic transitions in the
radical cation of trans-decalin. Using MARY spectroscopy, the signals
of the corresponding radical cations were detected at room temperature
in diluted solutions containing cis- and trans-decalin molecules as a
ccepters. Under these conditions, the total recovery of dynamic transi
tions in the radical cation of trans-decalin is observed. Radical cati
ons of both ch-and trans-decalin participate in the reaction of the io
n-molecular charge transfer to a neutral molecule; the rate constant o
f this reaction is close to the diffusion-controlled one.
