The first example of an ordered array of Au-6 clusters with trithiocya
nuric acid, [(LAu)(AuPPhMe2)(2)](2) (H3L = trithiocyanuric acid), is p
repared and characterized by X-ray crystallography; it has a two-dimen
sional structure via intermolecular Au-I ... Au-I interactions and pos
sesses photoluminescence properties; the ability of trithiocyanuric ac
id to act as a bridging ligand for molecular assembly of two-dimension
al polymeric solids is demonstrated.
