Abstract
Two types of baited pitfall traps with standardized food attractants ( alpha-pinene, 96% ethanol and water) were compared in monitoring Hylob ius abietis (L.) populations at several localities in southern Bohemia (Czech Republic). The smaller type (volume 1 l)) proved less useful i n comparison with the larger type (volume 15 l). The latter type is de scribed and discussed in more detail with respect to its application i n the field.
