W. Iwasieczko et al., MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES OF THE YTTERBIUM NONSTOICHIOMETRIC TRIHYDRIDE PHASE, Journal of alloys and compounds, 259(1-2), 1997, pp. 62-64
Magnetic susceptibility measurements of non-stoichiometric ytterbium t
rihydrides have been performed. A transition to the antiferromagnetic
state at temperatures just below 4.2 K has been found. The effective m
agnetic moment calculated per ytterbium ion increases with hydrogen co
ntent from 3.18 mu(B) for H/Yb=2.30 to 3.97 mu(B) for H/Yb=2.62, respe
ctively. These changes are connected with the increase of the amount o
f trivalent ytterbium ions with hydrogen increasing concentration. (C)
