Abstract
Thermal Residual Stresses (TRS) were determined using both experimenta l (XRD analysis) and theoretical (Finite Element Model and Analytical model) methods. Various combinations of ceramic fibres, interphase mat erials and silicon carbide matrix were examined. Experimental results were compared with predicted ones. A good agreement was observed. Also it has been pointed out that the texture and the geometry of the spec imens may influence the results. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
