Abstract
o-Phthaldialdehyde in combination with 1-thio-beta-D-galactose is a po werful chiral reagent for the precolumn derivatization of primary amin o acids. The diastereomers formed can be efficiently resolved on conve ntional reversed-phase columns. Comparison of 1-thio-beta-D-galactose with 1-thio-beta-D-glucose revealed that even the change of the config uration of the remote OH group on the sugar moiety influences the reso lution of D,L-amino acid derivatives.
