Sjogren's syndrome is an autoimmune disorder characterized by dry eyes and dry mouth. These symptoms may Exist in association with other aut oimmune disorders (secondary Sjogren's) or as a primary disorder. Howe ver, there is considerable confusion about the criteria for diagnosis. For our clinical and basic research purposes, we suggest that the dia gnosis be limited to patients focal lymphoid infiltrates and character istic autoantibodies.
