H. Ishihara, MANIPULATION OF NONLINEAR-OPTICAL RESPONSE VIA NANOSCALE SPATIAL STRUCTURE OF RESONANT INTERNAL FIELD, Materials science & engineering. B, Solid-state materials for advanced technology, 48(1-2), 1997, pp. 75-82
By means of nonlocal theory, a peculiar signal enhancement is discusse
d for the nonlinear response due to resonant behavior of a particular
spatial pattern of the internal field in an ultrathin him. Also, a the
ory of transient nonlinear pulse response of confined excitons is pres
ented, and a numerical result is demonstrated for a particular model.
The microscopic variation of the internal electromagnetic field is ful
ly treated in this method, and a nanoscale spatial Variation of the in
ternal field in an ultrathin film is found even in the response to a v
ery short pulse. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
