Sg. Yu et al., TRANSFER-MATRIX METHOD FOR INTERFACE OPTICAL-PHONON MODES IN MULTIPLE-INTERFACE HETEROSTRUCTURE SYSTEMS, Journal of applied physics, 82(7), 1997, pp. 3363-3367
Interactions of carriers with interface optical phonons dominate over
other carrier-phonon scatterings in narrow quantum-well structures. He
rein, a transfer matrix method is used to establish a formalism for de
termining the dispersion relations, electrostatic potentials, and Froh
lich interaction Hamiltonians of the interface optical phonons for mul
tiple-interface heterostructure systems within the framework of the ma
croscopic dielectric continuum model. This method facilitates systemat
ic calculations for complex structures where the conventional method i
s very difficult to implement. Several specific cases are treated to i
llustrate the advantages of the general formalism. (C) 1997 American I
