Abstract
Intrabed multiples, either caused by shallow reverberations or the pre sence of many thin layers, can have a detrimental effect on the signat ure of deeper reflections. We discuss a method for removing these type s of multiples. It can be viewed as a deterministic counterpart of wel l-known predictive deconvolution methods and is aimed at estimating th e inverse transmission operator of a subsurface region, directly from its reflection response. The method is illustrated by applying it to b oth synthetic and real data and appears to be able to reduce the effec t of transmission intrabed multiples.
