Abstract
This paper presents the phase noise allocation for the digital satelli te broadcasting system adopting the QPSK coherent demodulation scheme. The phase noise requirement for the local oscillator of Korean digita l DBS system is 23.7dB (0.2dB impairment). To meet this requirement, t he local oscillator SNR of the receiver terminal should be 24.12dB, an d 34.12dB for the transmitter terminal. These phase noise characterist ics will be applicable to the design of the digital satellite broadcas ting system as requirements of system phase noise.
