The short-range hydrodynamic interaction between a hydrophilic and hyd
rophobic bodies was studied theoretically. The role of hydrophobicity
was manifested in the slipping of a liquid along a solid surface. An e
xpression that links the force of hydrodynamic interaction, the thickn
ess of the slit, the velocity of the approach, and the characteristics
of the interacting bodies was obtained. The possibility of applying t
he results to various problems of colloidal chemistry was discussed.
