La. Tsarkova et al., THE EFFECT OF MACROCYCLE STRUCTURE IN POLYMERIC AZACROWN ETHERS ON THE STABILITY OF GOLD HYDROSOL, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 56(2), 1994, pp. 207-211
The stability of gold hydrosol in the presence of different azacrown e
thers immobilized on polymeric matrices (PACE) was studied by dynamic
light scattering. The specificity of the interaction between PACE and
ionic gold was shown to be retained for gold hydrosol. The flocculatin
g action of the polymer reagents is determined by the macrocycle compo
sition and the structure of the polymeric matrix. The reactive crown-e
ther group ensures the selectivity of the macromolecule-particle inter
action. The structure of the adsorption layer determines the interpart
icle interactions and, hence, influences the dispersion stability.
