The methods of macroelectrophoresis and potentiometric titration were
applied to evaluate and compare the electrosurface and adsorption prop
erties of ultrafine diamonds isolated from the products of synthesis b
y different techniques. Approximate composition and quantity of the pr
otogenic functional groups on the diamond surface were evaluated by th
e Boehm method. The ultrafine diamonds obtained by oxidation of non-di
amond carbon with air oxygen were shown to be characterized by a highe
r content of the protogenic groups including carboxylic ones and by hi
gher magnitudes of the electrokinetic potential and adsorption capacit
y.
