Ni. Gamayunov, ACTION OF A STATIC MAGNETIC-FIELD ON MOVING SOLUTIONS AND SUSPENSIONS, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 56(2), 1994, pp. 234-241
The idea is proposed that the Lorentz force causes the local deformati
on of the electrical double layer of variously sized particles, moving
with a carrying liquid in a magnetic field. This deformation temporar
ily lowers the ionic electrostatic repulsion barrier and results in th
e coagulation of solid particles and the coalescence of air bubbles. T
he change in solute dispersity from ionic to macroscopic particles fav
ors the transition of water bound by particles to free water with enha
nced activity. The proposed concept allows many experimental results t
o be explained and, in particular, the mechanism of polyextremal coagu
lation and sedimentation of chalk suspensions to be elucidated.
