The H-1, C-13, N-14 and N-15 NMR data of 2,1,3-thiadiazolium-5-olate a
nd some related structures have been collected. The nitrogen NMR data
suggest that the compound exists in a cyclic B type mesoionic form. Pr
otonation of 2,1,3-thiadiazolium-5-olate occurs on the exocyclic oxyge
n. Contrary to type B mesoionic diazoles and tetrazoles, the N-14 NMR
data suggest a relatively high density of positive charge on the N3 at
