A C-13 AND N-15 NMR INVESTIGATION OF 2 PROTON SPONGES IN SOLUTION ANDIN THE SOLID-STATE

Solid-state CP/MAS and solution C-13 and N-15 NMR data are reported fo r two proton sponges and some of their salts with HNO3 and HClO4. The solution measurements reveal symmetrical structures for the sponges an d their salts. In the solid state the molecules are less symmetrical, probably reflecting a change in the time scale of various dynamic proc esses between the solution and solid states.
