Abstract
The influence of the valence band shape and of the 5d band shape on th e Ce4+ L-3 X-ray absorption edge spectrum is checked for Ce compounds in the frame of the Anderson impurity model. It is found that the band shapes may significantly modify the spectrum and the parameters of th e calculation, especially in the case of a Ce-doped oxide. The example of Ce-doped yttria spectra calculated with the yttria valence band sh ape is given at the end of the paper. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
