Thick films of Sr-substituted LaMnO3 (LSM) were deposited on imperviou
s YSZ electrolyte by the screen printing technique. The LSM powders us
ed in this investigation were synthesized by autoignition of carboxyla
te-nitrate gel. Multiple coatings were applied to increase the thickne
ss of LSM layer. Effects of coating thickness and sintering temperatur
e on the microstructure and electrical properties of the films were st
udied. The properties of the films obtained from the present study, fu
lfill the requirements of the cathode of a solid oxide fuel cell.
