Abstract
Potamonautid river crabs were collected from four sites along the Olif ants River in the Western Cape, South Africa in order to determine mor phological and genetic differentiation among these populations. Two di stinct forms were identified, and fixed allele differences at some all ozyme loci between sympatric populations of the two forms confirmed th at they were reproductively isolated. It was concluded that these form s represent two species, one of which was previously unknown, and is d escribed in this paper as Potamonautes parvispina sp. nov.
