E. Ferguson, PRIVATIZATION AS CHOICE PROBABILITY, POLICY PROCESS AND PROGRAM OUTCOME - THE CASE OF TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATIONS, Transportation research. Part A, Policy and practice, 31(5), 1997, pp. 353-364
Privatization of travel demand management products and services in urb
an and suburban activity centers is analyzed using data on transportat
ion management associations. Private sector participation in transport
ation management is affected by both time and space. Private sector fi
nancial support is related to a priori participation. Implementation i
s influenced more by space at first, and more by time later on. Initia
tors play a key role in choosing transportation management products an
d services. Transportation management associations have moderate effec
ts on individual travel behavior. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
