Abstract
A new measurement of Delta sigma(L) for longitudinally polarized neutr ons transmitted through a polarized proton target at 16.2 MeV has been made. This complements our previous measurement of Delta sigma(T) at the same energy and after a phase-shift analysis improves the precisio n of the previous value of S-3(1) - D-3(1) mixing parameter epsilon(1) . The measurement yields the value Delta sigma(L) = (-55 +/- 20 +/- 7) mb. The result of a simple phase shift analysis for epsilon(1) is pre sented and compared with the theoretical potential model predictions a nd other experiments.
