Abstract
Absolute fission probabilities of highly excited nuclei (U-238, Th-232 , Bi-209, Au-197, Ho-165, Sn-119, Ag-nat, Mo-100, Y-89, and Cu-nat tar gets) produced by 1.9 GeV/c antiprotons were measured. The experiments were performed at LEAR/CERN with a 4 pi neutron and 4 pi charged-part icle detector. The results are compared with experimental data from st opped-antiproton annihilation and calculations based on the intranucle ar cascade and evaporation models. Annihilation cross sections were al so determined for the targets listed above.
