Bc. Smith et al., A SEQUENCE COMPONENTS MODEL OF THE AC DC CONVERTER IN THE HARMONIC DOMAIN/, IEEE transactions on power delivery, 12(4), 1997, pp. 1736-1743
In the steady state, the ac/dc converter couples harmonics on the de s
ide with sequence component harmonics on the ac side. A solution for t
he converter in sequence components may be more efficient than one in
phase components. Since most other power system steady-state analysis
is framed in sequence components, so too must the converter analysis b
e, if a unified solution is to be achieved. However in order to model
the commutation process, existing converter models suitable for iterat
ive steady state analysis are necessarily framed in phase components.
When the converter steady state is solved by Newton's method, the adva
ntages of both frames of reference can be derived by a judicious use o
f the sequence transform, interfacing a Newton solution in sequence co
mponents, to a converter model in phase components.
