Abstract
Successful and safe sedation is an important technical aspect of pedia tric imaging for the radiologist. Sedation of children requiring acute diagnostic evaluation presents additional challenges including uncert ain past medical history and nothing-by-mouth status, unknown allergie s, and unstable clinical status. This article focuses on the technique s and problems of sedating children in an acute setting.
