Abstract
The positive-ion fast-atom bombardment (FAB) mass spectra of 23 zearal enone derivatives have been obtained and structures for the ion fragme nts were proposed. Careful analysis of the FAB spectra obtained for th ese derivatives, accurate mass measurement and MS/MS experiments for z earalenone, 3'-oxozearalenone and 7'-methanolzearalanone, have led to a proposed fragmentation scheme for this series of compounds, This kno wledge has been helpful in the identification of underivatized zearale nones from crude Fusarium rice culture extracts.
