Abstract
Change in stress orientation affecting regional NE and N striking faul ts is a major tectonic event exhibited by the Neogene continental depo sits of the Nabon Basin. It is responsible for its evolution in two st ages. Identified in other andean neogene basins of the Northern Andes it is a regional, but perhaps diachronous, event.
