Hh. Cui et al., STUDY OF THE HIGH-ENERGY HEAVY FRAGMENTS FROM THE INTERACTION OF 3.65-GEV N F-19 AND CU/, Nuclear tracks & radiation measurements, 22(1-4), 1993, pp. 565-570
The study of wide angle emitted heavy fragments with Z greater-than-or
-equal-to 6 in the interaction of 3.65 GeV/N F-19 and Cu is carried ou
t with the help of the CR-39 detectors. These CR-39 detectors are plac
ed in a target set-up, called ''Arbuzov target'', which is described i
n the text. Preliminary results are given, showing that very few (<10(
-7) per F-19 ion) heavy fragments are emitted from a copper target (ir
radiated with 3.65 GeV/N F-19 ions) into a lab angle theta = (25 +/- 5
)-degrees and having a penetration power of at least 5.6 cm in the CR-
39. It is possible, however not yet certain, that these heavy secondar
ies emitted at wide-angle are relativistic particles.
