Damage track detectors are extensively applied for the assessment of l
ow concentrations of alpha emitting radionuclides and the measurement
of neutron doses in the entire neutron energy range of interest. Wides
pread applications of track detectors have occurred in large scale sur
vey of radon gas in dwellings. Unfortunately, because of the recent IC
RP recommendations, the sensitivity of damage track detectors for neut
ron dosimetry may result marginal. However, the unique registration ch
aracteristics of damage track detectors may be used to good advantage
to solve these shortcomings.
