Ma. Elfiki et al., AUTORADIOGRAPHIC MEASUREMENTS OF LOW CONCENTRATION OF ALPHA-ACTIVE NUCLEIDES USING CR-39 TRACK DETECTOR, Nuclear tracks & radiation measurements, 22(1-4), 1993, pp. 863-866
A technique is described by which the distribution of radionuclei in h
istological sections of kidney and liver of male rats are visualised b
y nuclear track recording plastic. The particles emitted from radionuc
lei contained within the section are registered as tracks in CR-39. An
image of tissue structure is induced superimposed upon particle track
distribution by autoradiography. The uranyl acetate was injected intr
aperitonially into rats with activity 609 Bq. The detection efficiency
of CR-39 for alpha-particles emitted from the prepared solution of ur
anyl acetate was found to be 0.085. The concentration of alpha-activit
y in the ashed samples was found in kidney more than that in liver.
