Abstract
Sympodioplanus capensis gen. et sp. nov. R.C. Sinclair & Boshoff is de scribed from collections mode in the Western Cape region on dead, deco rticated wood in advanced stages of decay. Problems regarding taxonomi c characters used to delimit nine other similar genera are discussed.
