The sound field of a point source in a shallow-water waveguide with in
ternal waves is considered. A model allowing for the basic characteris
tics of shelf internal waves is proposed. The behavior of coherent (de
terministic) and incoherent (fluctuating) components of the sound fiel
d is investigated. The spatial coherence scales are estimated for vari
ous waveguides.
