A self-consistent treatment of the impurity transport in the bulk and
scrape-off layer (SOL) plasmas in the Frascati Tokamak Upgrade (FTU) i
s presented. The model is based on a 0-D description of the plasma tra
nsport in the tokamak centre and on a 1-D model of the SOL plasma dyna
mics. The FTU configuration with a poloidal Inconel limiter is conside
red. Preliminary calculations for the configuration with the molybdenu
m and tungsten limiter plates are also presented. A comparison with th
e experimental data shows good agreement with the results of the model
